How Solomon Pools Worked?
How Did the Water Get to Jerusalem?
With a build-up in water pressure, or head, at the source, in this case Solomon Pools, basic physics allowed for the force of the water to flow through a system of aqueducts that was built and expanded upon over several centuries. While the pools predate the Romans, it was most likely an infrastructure initiative around the time of King Herod and Julius Caesar that made a massive transfer of water to Jerusalem possible. The route of the aqueduct system allowed for natural force to carry the water without use of pumps or massive landscaping projects, making it possible for an extended system to be put into place in a relatively short period of time.
